Installing, Configuring, and Administering of Microsoft servers

In today's business world computerization of enterprises is rather widespread, that allowed to facilitate the work in several times. However, computers themselves are in need of service, reasonable configuration and administration. At enterprises, even the smallest, several computers are networked together. It facilitates the exchange of information among multiple users.

Exactly for such operational work it is required to install a server. This increases the data exchange and messaging speed. The availability of a convenient search, structured information and computing power is rather helpful too.

Server is a high power computer that serves its network subscribers. It may carry a plurality of virtual services, but their number will depend on the computational capabilities of the equipment.

The server can be physical or virtual. Physical one will be located at the company, and have a direct physical connection to the equipment of the enterprise. Virtual can be located in many miles away from the company (often in other countries).

Microsoft is now giving more preference to virtualization technology that allows to work more effectively in a virtual environment. It became real thanks to the hypervisor, but there will be a proportion of overheads.

Virtualization technology has two properties:
• It becomes a mediator between the hardware and the software. This simplifies the allocation of resources among several running programs;
• Running Programs will be placed in the virtual space, and this will not allow them to conflict with other applications.

Speaking about physical server, it has a single operating system installed, which performs different tasks. Shared hardware resources can cause side effects, and the failure of the programs.

To build a large network, you need a lot of experience and high qualification. Before you start, you need to think carefully about the order of execution of tasks and clearly see the end result. Working with network protocols will consist of planning and setting basic network of protocols, identifying basic configuration and testing of all protocols.

One of the main tasks of administration is to configure the server. You must install and configure the network infrastructure. These include service routing, DNS, DHCP, WINS, virtual and network remote access. Print & files services, managing messaging services, directories, access to the database should be also established.

Laying and setting of the network is the first step. In future the server will need to be maintained. Such work will be named IT outsourcing. I.e. full or partial transfer of authority to maintain a server. It is very convenient to assign such work for a company that originally held laying of a network. In fact these specialists know all the details of the network they have created. However, we are also often asked for help in setting up a network that was created by other administrators.

IT Outsourcing at the initial stage of the work involves collection of information, learning of enterprise infrastructure. Weaknesses and major segments of work are identified. Thereafter our specialist contacts the customer and offers possible solutions.

During IT outsourcing we usually solve the questions on improving of the work of all enterprise information systems, or only of a single part of it. It depends on what the customer wants, and on the effectiveness of such changes.

After performing of all work, it is important to continue to monitor IT networks. The program continuously monitors the quality of the functioning of the network. Monitoring allows to quickly and harmlessly to the enterprise work identify errors and report them to the administrator. And he quickly fixes the problem. It can also activate the automatic failover of the network.
